DEWALD J BASSON
I grew up in the Lowveld area of Phalaborwa which is where my love for South Africa, its people and all of its wildlife began. I started sketching at a young age so being an artist has always been an influential part of who I am as a person. I have no formal training in art and everything I do is purely self taught.
When I found my love for Pastels and Charcoal 25 years ago, that is when I really discovered my niche medium: Monochrome. I love seeing how detail comes to life when working in black and white and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.
Throughout the years I have truly honed in on my skills in Photo & Hyper Realism and am proud to call myself an accomplished Animal and Portriat artist, specializing in black and white.
